Terms of Service

Last updated 19 October 2026 · draft

These terms are an agreement between you and [operator's legal name and address] ("we", "us"), who run Tripella. By signing in or using Tripella you agree to them. Please also read the Privacy Policy, which explains what happens to your information.

1. What Tripella is

Tripella is a trip planner. You can plan journeys, stays and activities, compare plan options, track costs and who paid, keep tickets and documents, write a travel journal, share trips with other people, and use AI features that suggest ideas, itineraries, places to stay and connections.

Tripella does not sell travel. We are not a travel agent, tour operator or booking platform. Any booking you make through a link in Tripella (a rail operator, airline, hotel or booking site) is between you and that business, on its terms.

2. Accounts and access

  • You sign in with Google, Microsoft, Apple or a one-time link sent to your email. You must use an account and email address that are yours.
  • Tripella is currently invitation-only. A new account that wasn't invited waits for an administrator to approve it, and a request may be declined without a reason.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at [contact email] if you think someone else has used it.
  • You must be at least [minimum age, e.g. 18 — or 13/16 with a parent's consent] to have an account. You may add other people (including children) to a trip's traveller list; only do so where you are entitled to share their details.
  • [Pricing, plans and payment terms, once Tripella is offered commercially.]

3. Your content

"Your content" is what you put into Tripella: trips, plans, bookings, notes, costs, files you upload, journal entries and photos, checklists and saved links. You keep any rights you have in it. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run Tripella for you and the people you share it with — for example to show it, back it up, send it to the outside services described in the Privacy Policy, and email or export it when you ask.

You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that it doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights.

4. Sharing

  • When you share a trip, the people you add see it according to the role you give them (owner, editor, viewer, or guest — a guest sees the plan without prices or tickets). Editors can change the trip.
  • A shared journal link and a calendar subscription link work for anyone who has the link, without signing in, until you turn it off or reset it. Only share them with people you trust.
  • Each journal post has its own audience, which you choose: only you; everyone on the trip (including people following it); also your friends; or anyone using Tripella. A post for anyone can be seen, reacted to and replied to by any Tripella user, and someone can copy what they see. Where a post was (its places, map and route) is hidden from people not on the trip until the trip is over, unless you choose to show it. Think about what a post says about where you are, and about anyone else in it, before sharing it widely.

5. AI features

  • Tripella's AI features use Anthropic's Claude models. What they produce — suggestions, times, prices, routes, opening hours, distances and facts about places — can be wrong, out of date or incomplete, and is marked as AI content in the app. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.
  • AI use may be limited by a monthly allowance. Admins set the allowances and may change or withdraw them.
  • The AI never moves or replaces something you have marked as booked. You remain responsible for your own plans and bookings.
  • If you connect your own AI assistant (such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini) to Tripella, it can read and change your trips with the access you approve. That assistant's provider is responsible for it under its own terms, and you can disconnect it at any time in Settings.

6. Travel information

Maps, routes, journey times, opening hours, weather forecasts, typical weather, exchange rates, prices and place details come from outside sources (listed on the Data sources & licences page) or from AI, and are provided for planning only. They may be inaccurate or unavailable. Always check timetables, entry and visa requirements, travel advice, opening times and bookings with the official source before you travel.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law, or use Tripella to harass, deceive or harm anyone;
  • upload malware, or content you have no right to share;
  • try to get into accounts, trips or data that aren't yours, or test, probe or overload the service;
  • scrape Tripella, or use it to collect data from the services it relies on in bulk, or to get round their limits;
  • resell or provide Tripella to others without our written agreement;
  • post anything abusive, hateful, sexual, violent or misleading, spam, or other people's private information or photos without their permission.

Anyone can report a journal post or comment, and block someone so neither sees the other's posts or comments. We look at reports and may remove content, or suspend an account, that breaks these terms. A post's writer can remove comments on it, and a trip's owner can remove posts on their trip.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep Tripella running and your data safe, but it is provided as it is and may be interrupted, changed or withdrawn. Features that depend on outside services (maps, routes, weather, AI) may stop working if those services change or fail. Keep your own copy of anything important — you can download a backup of all your trips from the trips menu at any time.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using Tripella at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we need to close for legal or security reasons, and will tell you where we reasonably can. [Notice period and refunds, if paid plans are introduced.]

10. Liability

[Limitation of liability and exclusions, for the lawyer to draft. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud), or your statutory rights as a consumer.]

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The "last updated" date above shows when they last changed; for significant changes we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.

12. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of [jurisdiction, e.g. England and Wales], and disputes go to the courts there, [subject to consumers' rights to use their local courts].

Questions about these terms: [contact email].
